About Me

Hello and welcome to the site of Welsh poet, artist and freelance editor, Tracey Rhys. Thanks so much for stopping by.  Here you will find general musings and more specific publication news. I can be found near the coast in South Wales, where I live with my husband, two sons and a lot of dusty books.

My first collection of poems, Teaching a Bird to Sing, was the result of a 2015 Literature Wales Award which allowed me time to write about my relationship with my young son, who has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The pamphlet was published by Green Bottle Press in October 2016 and featured in The TLS in its end-of-year round-up of the Michael Marks Awards for 2017.

In 2020, I won the Poetry Archive’s first ever open competition, WordView Now! winning a permanent place in their archive with a video reading of my poem, Panopticon. I work in close collaboration with the Cardiff theatre company, Winterlight, devising poetry for use in new productions. Do get in touch if you feel we share a common thread!

I am a skilled freelance copy editor and proofreader with over twenty years experience in the publication industry. Please click on the relevant tab or send a message if this aspect of my work is of interest to you or your company.
