Hello and welcome to the site of Welsh poet Tracey Rhys. Thanks so much for stopping by. Here you will find general musings and more specific poetry news. I can be found in Bridgend, South Wales, where I live with my husband, sons and a lot of dusty books.
I am a freelancer and work in editorial in-house part-time for clients including The Royal Mint. I’m interested in writing poetry and collecting narratives that seek to break down barriers and foster a shift in perception, specifically for autism but also regarding wider disabilities.
My first collection of poems, Teaching a Bird to Sing, was published in October 2016 by Green Bottle Press. Part-catharsis, part-therapy, the poems were written as a way of coming to terms with my son’s diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, a celebration of his exquisite mind and my parenting adventure.
I read my poetry widely throughout Wales. If this is something you would like to book for your school, organisation or group, please get in touch. I have written poetry for the theatre, page, for use in visual art exhibitions and am always interested in collaborating on new projects. Please get in touch if you feel we share a common thread!
